Hydrocal FGR-95 – Alpha Gypsum
FGR-95 is a long set time alpha plaster (gypsum) design for use with fiberglass reinforcement. It allows the manufacture of large and intricate architectural elements for indoor applications at relatively low cost and ease of processing. This system is also great for case moulds or mother moulds when FMG (Forton Modified Gypsum) is not required.
Forton MG
When FGR-95 is used in conjunction with VF-812 acrylic polymer, Forton MG (Forton Modified Gypsum) is created. FMG is based on the VF-812 water based polymer emulsion (50% solids) and greatly enhances the physical properties of alpha gypsum products. The Forton™ MG system is easy to use and can be cast solid, rotationally cast, layed up by hand with glass fiber or sprayed. Fully cured pieces can be painted, sanded, machined and polished. FMG is used to make lightweight pieces that are very strong and water-resistant. Applications include making architectural elements, reproducing sculpture and special effects. Metal Powders and Pigments may be added, please check data sheet for recommended ratio and details. We recommend that this system is mixed/sheared mechanically and not by hand for optimum results. This system may be used in different ratios, but the most common is 100:50 FGR-95 to VF812. This means 1 x 22kg bag to 1 x 10kg polymer.
