Pol-Ease® 2500 Release Agent, is a washable release agent that comes in an aerosol can and can be used on sealed or non-porous models before applying liquid silicone rubber. In some cases, no release is needed before applying liquid silicone, but for added insurance, Pol-Ease® 2500 Release Agent can be used. This release is useful for preventing liquid silicone rubber from sticking to cured silicone, for example, when pouring a two piece silicone block mould.
Pol-Ease® 2500 Release Agent can be used for casting as well as mould making. To extend mould life, spray and brush Pol-Ease® 2500 Release Agent into a silicone mould when casting materials such as polyurethane plastics, rubbers or epoxies. It may also be sprayed into polyurethane moulds before casting polyurethane liquid plastics, but the moulds will not last as long as they would if Pol-Ease® 2300 Release Agent was used in the polyurethane mould.
The main reason for using Pol-Ease® 2500 Release Agent in a polyurethane mould would be to cast a part that can be cleaned more easily than a part covered with Pol-Ease® 2300 Release Agent. PolEase® 2500 does contain a small quantity of silicone, but it washes off much easier than Pol-Ease® 2300 Release Agent, a desirable trait when parts need finishing/painting.
For Mold Making: Apply to non-porous or sealed models when making silicone rubber molds (not recommended for use with liquid polyurethane rubbers).
For Casting:
1) Apply to silicone rubber molds when casting liquid silicone rubber.
2) To extend mold life, apply to silicone molds when casting materials such as polyurethane plastics, rubbers or epoxies (release agent is not needed for this process, but can extend mold life).
3) Apply to polyurethane molds before casting polyurethane liquid plastics (The molds will not last as long as they would if Pol-Ease® 2300 Release Agent was used. The main reason for using Pol-Ease® 2500 in a polyurethane mold would be to cast a part that can be cleaned more easily than a part covered with Pol-Ease® 2300. This is beneficial when painting cast parts).
After spraying, brush out this release agent with a soft brush to help improve results. No drying time necessary.
