Jade Green Patina is a hot or cold patina for bronze, brass, and copper. For best results apply to a hot surface around 82-93*C. It is designed to create a dark green tone on those metal surfaces. Supplied in a ready to use formula and 8oz spray bottle. Jade Green should not be diluted but instead applied directly to the cleaned metal surface. If applied cold, the colour develops into Kelly green in about 12 hours. This patina will normally take a few coats in order to get good coverage and works excellent over a base patina such as M-38, M-24 or Liver of Sulfur.
Directions:
Use in a well ventilated area. Always wear goggles or face shield, vapor respirator, protective clothing, and gloves when handling the product. Store between 10-32*C.
1. Clean the metal with Sculpt Nouveau Metal Cleaner and Degreaser and a scotch-brite pad, rinse with distilled water after a few minutes. For more consistent and better reactions, sanding or sandblasting is recommended. Cleaning the surface is mandatory after sanding or handling with bare hands. DO NOT use Acetone or apply any solvent based cleaners.
2. Heat the metal up to about 82 to 93*C with a propane torch then apply the Jade Green to the metal surface by brush, sponge, or spray bottle. Apply Antiquing patina to the metal surface by brush, sponge, roll or spray bottle. Which ever option you choose will react with the surface, but it may show characteristics based on application method. Spraying is the most common method. You should see some reaction almost immediately.
A base patina will help Jade Green Patina adhere and will add depth to the finish, whilst producing a quicker finish. Try to maintain the temperature of the metal to around the 82-93*C range. The patina should mist off if you are in the correct range. Try not to overheat the metal since that can start changing the finish.
3. Re-apply the patina as needed to achieve a darker or more uniform finish. Follow steps 2-4 if needed.
4. Allow the metal to cool, then apply desired clear coat such as Clear Guard or Ever Clear.
